Managing Patients¶
The 3DiscClinic Home Page presents the list of Patients and Cases.

Select a Patient to view the list of Cases associated with this patient profile.
- The most recent case is automatically displayed in Case Preview.

Select a case to display the Case Preview.
Creating a Patient Profile¶
To create a patient profile in 3DiscClinic™ :
- Step 1. Click on the CREATE NEW PATIENT click-bar in the User Home Page (see image above).
- Step 2. In the Create New Patient dialog box, enter the patient details.
- Step 3. Click Create.
It's as simple as that!
NEXT STEP: Create a Case¶
When you have added a Patient profile in 3DiscClinic™, you are ready to Create a Case in the Case Setup page.
Simply Scan
It is possible to start scanning without first selecting a patient profile or creating a case. This can be useful when pressed for time, as the scan dossier can be associated with the patient profile afterwards.

Editing a Patient Profile¶
To Edit a patient profile:
- Step 1. Click the Edit icon as shown.
This opens the Edit Patient dialogue box:
- Step 2. Modify Patient details, then click OK to apply changes.
Edit, Delete or Merge Patient Profiles¶
To Edit, Delete or Merge a Patient profile:
- Step 3. Click on the 3-point icon to the right of the Patient folder, then select the desired option.
Deleting Multiple Patient Profiles¶
To delete multiple patient profiles:

Step 1. Select the patient profiles in the left-hand menu of the Home Page, then

Step 2. Click DELETE PATIENTS.
Only patient profiles with no cases can be deleted. Cases linked to a patient must be deleted first.
Displaying Patients¶
Displaying a list of Patients¶
To select the list of Patients in the left-hand menu:

Step 1. Click on the PATIENTS icon:
This will toggle the left-hand menu display to Patients.
To organize the list of Patients: -
Step 2. Click Last Case Created or Name.
Selecting a Preferred Start Page¶
In Settings, you can select a preferred display for your Start Page :
- 1. In Settings/General, click Preferred Start Page.
- 2. Select Recent Patients or Recent Cases .
Filtering Patients¶
You can display a list of Patients by:
- Gender
- Creation Date (or date range)
- Date of Birth

Step 1. Click the Filter icon, and in the Filters dialog box select the desired filter details.

Step 2. Click Apply to apply the filter, or Cancel to cancel any modifications made to the filter.
An active filter is indicated by a circle:
To remove an active filter:
- Step 3. Click on the active filter icon.
- Step 4. In the Filters dialog box, click Reset and Apply.
Displaying Cases in 3DiscClinic™¶
To Select a Patient and display associated cases:
- Tick a patient checkbox.
The list of cases for the selected patient is displayed as shown.
For ease-of-use, the most recent case is now automatically displayed in Case Preview for the selected patient (version 3.8).
Previewing a Patient Case¶
To Preview or Review a Patient Case, in the list of Patient Cases:
- Tick a Case checkbox:
A Preview of the selected Case is displayed as shown.
- To Review and Finalize a case in the Case Finalization page, click:
Open Case
A Preview of the selected Case is displayed as shown.
Accessing the Image Acquisition tool

To access the Image Acquisition tool, click on the Photo icon in the Case Preview page.

The Workflow Menu¶
The Workflow Menu will display steps that correspond to the Restoration options selected in the Case Setup page.
Already completed Workflow Menu steps are indicated by a green checkmark.
- Step 4. To directly access a specific step in the Case Setup and Scan workflow, click on the desired icon in the Workflow Menu.
Enabling Direct Scan¶
It is possible to directly access the scanning module without first selecting a patient profile or adding a case.
To enable Direct Scan:
- Step 1. Click the Settings icon to access System Settings.
- Step 2. In the Settings Menu, select General.
- Step 3. In General Settings, select Enable Direct Scan Workflow. (Note: this option is disabled by default).
The Start Scanning bar is displayed in the User Start Screen.
Merging a Direct Scan with a Patient Profile¶
When you carry out a Direct Scan, a "DirectScan" profile is generated automatically.
After scanning, you can merge the "DirectScan" profile with an existing patient profile or associate it with a new patient profile.
To merge a "DirectScan" profile with patient profile:
- Step 1. Select the profile to be merged and click the Merge icon to the right of the patient folder.
- Step 2. Select Merge in the expanded list.
This opens the Merge Patient window.
In the Merge Patient window:
- Step 3. Search and select a Patient ID.
- Step 4. Click Merge and Confirm.
Creating a Patient Profile for a Direct Scan¶
To create a new Patient Profile for the Direct Scan:
- Step 1. Select the "DirectScan" profile to be edited, and click the Edit icon to the right of the patient folder.
This opens the Edit Patient window.
To Edit the "DirectScan" profile:
- Step 2. Edit the "DirectScan" patient profile and click OK.
Anonymizing Patient Data¶
You can anonymize patient data before sharing patient files with labs.
It is important to protect patient privacy1, including for those cases where you have received permission to use anonymous case examples for training or presentation purposes.
To anonymize patient profiles:
- Step 1. In the Settings Menu, select Case Setup settings.
- Step 2. Activate Hide Patient Names, to anonymize patient profiles in 3DiscClinic™.
- Step 3. Activate Hide Patient Name When Sending to Lab, to anonymize patient profiles when uploaded to 3DiscCloud™.
- Click the slider left to deactivate, right to activate.
